Favorites is a concept that has existed on native phone apps since the era of speed-dial. Yet, it was absent from WhatsApp, the largest calling app in the world.

After convincing stakeholders that this feature would strengthen WhatsApp's moat in the calling landscape, we began building Favorites for the Calls Tab.
